Assignment
Scandinavian Colour Institute. Packaging design, graphic programme, NCS. Worldwide, 2004.

Challenge
The existing design felt drab and old-fashioned, and failed to reflect NCS as an innovative company in the front line of developing existing and new tools for
colour systems. Demanding users such as architects and designers were to be inspired to have the expen-
sive products out on display. All the products needed an updated and modern image that clearly reflected NCS’s position in the international market.

Solution
To move away from a grey world in terms of materials to a black, modern rayon fabric with white, clear and playful typography.

Results
The range has been revitalised and given a real boost. The launch of the new NCS 1950 surpassed all expec-
tations. Existing customers have updated their colour charts faster than Scandinavian Colour Institute had expected. New customer groups have been acquired
– primarily from the design world. The design solution strengthened the NCS brand, improving its position in markets old and new. Blog image
